The well-known cherry blossoms festival Sakura Matsuri is celebrated in remembrance of the great hero Momotaro, The Peach Boy.  Once there were a woodcutter and his wife lived near a village.  They always prayed for a child as they have none. One day the woodcutter fished a large peach stone and when they cut the peach a little baby was inside of it and they named him as Momotaro. The wife gave the baby some milk and, with every drop of milk, he grew bigger and bigger.

One day some giants came sailing down the river and stole food from the villagers and destroyed the farmer’s crops. Then Momotaro decides to take them down.  He set for sail in the giants place. On his way he met a monkey, a dog and a pheasant. The four of them entered the giant’s castle and took them down. They apologized for their mistakes and gave Momotaro all of their treasure. Then he lived happily since after.
